He's a big-time scorer, no question, but this is a 28-year-old who has already had three separate back surgeries, and his $40.8 million contract is expiring. That expiring number is the cleanest trade chip on the roster. You don't hand a fresh multi-year guarantee to a back that's been under the knife three times. Brooklyn trades him by February. They don't guarantee that back.
Washington made Laremy Tunsil the highest-paid tackle in football by average salary back in March, 2 years and $60.2m, and now he tears a triceps in a camp drill and needs surgery before he plays a down of it.
